DAN Jones won Worcester St John’s Cycling Club’s latest event.
Conditions were far from ideal for the Old Hills 10km race with the slippy road forcing riders to hold back.
Torrential rain had stopped by the time racing was due to begin but the downpours proved sufficient enough to keep several competitors at home.
However, 13 riders took part with Jones crossing the finish line in 23 minutes 59 seconds.
Dave Preece was second in 24.34 and Richard Graham third in 25.19.
Simon Rousell’s 25.40 was enough for fourth place, while Dave Walker took fifth in 26.31. Sixth place went to Jason Griffiths with a time of 26.51.
The club’s next event is a 10km race at Severn Stoke on Tuesday. Riders can meet at the top of the hill on the left turn to Kinnersley at 7pm.
